A Belleville swimmer is capturing attention across the United States swimming world.
Over the weekend, 17-year-old Francis Brennan, a Freshman at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, competed in the SMU Invitational.
He grabbed two second-place finishes, one in the 200-metre freestyle and another in the 800-metre free relay.
Brennan also holds the second fastest time in SMU history (200-metre freestyle) .
He also earned what is known as NCAA Standards, an important step toward being invited to the championships in March for the freestyle.
