The Christmas for Seniors program is still seeking support this year.
Since 2017, the the program has been bringing joy annually to hundreds of seniors living alone across Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
Founder and program lead Donna McFaul invites people to grab a tag off one their trees located at the Bayview Mall and Trenton Freshco.
“Go out and visit one of our trees, pick up a tag or two, look at the gift suggestion and on each tag it does specifically say the gift drop off location and the time it needs to be back. So that date is December 5.”
They also partner with Community Care for South Hastings which accepts sponsorships and creates holiday packages for the seniors they serve.
McFaul says the program means a lot to the seniors it serves.
“Every gift, every sponsorship or any gesture really, you know really goes a long way. It just shows these seniors that they do truly matter. That they’re truly valued and they’re remembered and they’re not forgotten. And it’s just a nice message to say, like here, we’re here, we see you. You’re important”
