has passed a crucial test.
“Within Village A are higher density apartment blocks providing desperately needed purpose-built rentals and affordable home ownership
opportunities as well as different styles of town homes and units with secondary suites.”
Mayor Steve Ferguson congratulated the developers, collectively known as PEC Community Partners, and the municipal staff working on the project.
“What we are seeing is not a subdivision but the development of a neighbourhood in the first phase in Village A. It will be a wonderful
place I think for families and people to reside in Prince Edward County.”
Phase One of the Base31 development on 31 hectares of vacant land would feature 472 residential units of various kinds along with open space, a park, a walkway, and public laneways. Affordable housing would also be included.
The entire project, which could take decades, envisions a community with up to 7,500 residential units.
