Belleville police have laid animal cruelty charges against a man after a cat was attacked.
Officers began investigating an animal welfare complaint Monday morning and discovered that a male had hit, bitten, and thrown a cat against a wall.
It was also reported that the male had bitten another animal previously.
Police say he was also bound by a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
Animal Welfare Officers attended with police and located the 22-year-old Belleville male who was arrested and charged with:

Cruelty to animals causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury x2

Failure to comply with a probation order
-
uttering threats
He was held for a bail hearing.
The cat has been re-homed since the incident.
