The inaugural Partners in Pink Golf Tournament, held on October 9, was a swinging success, raising just over $64,000 net in support of the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital (PECMH) Foundation.
Hosted at Wellington Golf Course, the sold-out event welcomed 18 teams and 72 golfers for a day filled with camaraderie, community spirit, and a commitment to advancing local health care. Proceeds from the tournament will support the purchase of a new digital mammography machine for the new county hospital — an essential diagnostic tool for early breast cancer detection. The current unit, in use for more than 12 years, is nearing end of life, and replacement is estimated to cost nearly $1 million.
“The success of our first Partners in Pink tournament speaks volumes about the compassion and generosity that define Prince Edward County,” said Shannon Coull, executive director of the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation. “Every golfer, sponsor, committee member, and volunteer has helped to ensure people in our community have access to advanced diagnostic technology.”
The Partners in Pink Golf Committee extends heartfelt thanks to all who made the event possible. “Seeing so many people come together in support of local health care was truly inspiring,” said Kelley Derrett, Partners in Pink Golf Committee Member. “This tournament was built on teamwork, compassion, and community pride — and we’re thrilled to have made such a meaningful impact in our first year.”
“The purchase of a new digital mammography machine is a $1 million investment in the future of our community’s health,” added Nancy Parks, Back the Build Campaign Chairperson. “Events like this help bring us closer to that goal, and we hope others will join us in ensuring that the best diagnostic care is available right here at home in Prince Edward County.”
The event featured on-course activities, creative pink décor, and a strong spirit of generosity throughout the day. The leadership of the Partners in Pink Golf Committee and the enthusiasm of all involved made this inaugural tournament both fun and impactful.
The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Back the Build campaign is raising $30 million to help build and equip a new hospital in Prince Edward County, ensuring residents and visitors continue to have access to high-quality, compassionate care close to home.
