Two people face charges including assault with a weapon and impersonating a peace officer after an incident on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
Tyendinaga police responded to an incident on Highway 2 involving a driver of a motorcycle who police say was assaulted after being pulled over by a vehicle displaying unauthorized red and blue lights.
Police say an investigation determined that Charles Somerville and Connor Bolton were responsible for the assault.
The police service alleges that Somerville struck the motorcycle with his truck, causing the rider to fall, and then assaulted him.
They say Bolton also engaged in the assault after exiting the vehicle.
Police say that Somerville was also found in breach of a probation order and operating a vehicle dangerously, while Bolton was driving while prohibited under a lifetime suspension.
Charles Somerville is charged with the following:
- Assault with a weapon
- Personating a peace officer
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Dangerous operation
- Assault with a weapon
- Personating a peace officer
- Operation while prohibited
Somerville was arrested and held pending a bail hearing on October 24, 2025. An arrest warrant has been issued for Connor Bolton.
During the course of the investigation, the victim was also arrested on outstanding warrants stemming from an unrelated matter in the City of Belleville and was returned to the Belleville Police Service.
