A Kingston resident is facing charges after a traffic stop resulted in the seizure of cocaine and crystal meth.
On Saturday at approximately 10:40 p.m., a member of the Kingston Police Patrol Division observed a Highway Traffic Act violation in the area of Montreal Street and Joseph Street.
Upon conducting a traffic stop in relation to the violation, the officer observed a quantity of illegal tobacco products within the vehicle. Through the course of further investigation and a subsequent search it was revealed that the lone occupant of the vehicle was also in possession of a quantity of illegal substances, specifically cocaine, crystal methamphetamine and psilocybin.
Officers seized approximately $73,000 (street value) of illegal substances as well as an additional $3057 in Canadian currency.
The 39-year-old driver, from Kingston, was arrested and charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking as well as possession of proceeds obtained by crime. They were transported to Kingston police headquarters where they were held in custody for a bail hearing.
