The highway was slow going west of Port Hope on Highway 401 Thursday morning.
A fire truck had responded to a collision on the westbound 401 and it was struck by a tractor trailer.
OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says charges are pending.
The firefighters were inside the vehicle at the time and were taken to hospital for treatment.
Hwy 401 west was closed during the morning commute.
