Via Rail has announced they are delaying a pilot project that would see trains go directly between Montreal and Toronto, bypassing communities in between.
In a Facebook post, Bay of Quinte MP Chris Malette welcomed the news, and said he would continue to communicate with Via regarding route changes that would impact area rail passengers.
“If they consider similar future pilot programs or actions that could impact rail passengers in our area, we insist that we be a part of the conversation,” said MP Malette.
Via Rail said that the pilot project was postponed due to operational constraints.
