One person has been arrested and charged in connection with a break and enter and stolen vehicle incident that happened Monday, September 22 at a Lakefield business as well as another break and enter at a Peterborough business on Tuesday, September 23.
Through investigation, a suspect was identified and a warrant for their arrest was issued.
On Wednesday, September 24, the man was arrested on an unrelated matter in another jurisdiction and handed over to Peterborough police on the strength of the warrant.
As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
Lakefield Incident (Suspect #1):
Break & enter a place and steal a firearm
Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence
Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
Fail to comply with probation order x3
Theft of motor vehicle
Peterborough Incident (Business in the Webber Avenue and Lansdowne Street West area):
Break and enter and commit indictable offence
Fail to comply with probation order x3
The accused was held in custody for a court appearance on Thursday.
The search continues for the second person wanted in connection with the break and enter in Lakefield as well as the stolen property.
