Peterborough County OPP have charged a man with impaired driving, after a single-vehicle accident.
On Saturday, shortly before 8 p.m., officers recieved a call about a vehicle that had left the road, landing in a ditch on Asphodel 3rd Line in Asphodel-Norwood Township.
Officers arrived on scene and after speaking with the driver, determined them to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further testing.
James Bird, a 49-year-old from Hastings, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, 0peration while impaired – blood alcohol over 80, and drive motor vehicle with no currently validated permit.
The accused had their driver’s licence further suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days. They are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough at a later date.
