September is World Alzheimer Month.
Today (Thursday, September 18), local McDonald’s restaurants in Belleville, Quinte West, Picton and Madoc will be donating 50 cents from all medium, large, and extra–large coffees sold, to the Alzheimer Society of Hastings–Prince Edward (ASHPE).
In addition, staff, volunteers, and community supporters will be in the drive–thru collecting cash and tap donations.
All funds raised will stay local and help support the estimated 5000+ people living with dementia in our region.
“We are so grateful to have the continued support of our local McDonald’s locations once again this year,” said ASHPE Executive Director Angela Meraw.
She says less than 50% of ASHPE’s budget is provided by the Ministry of Health, meaning the society relies on the support of donors and fundraising to continue providing free programs and services in our community.
The society hopes to raise over $10,000 this year.
