Northumberland OPP have charged a man after receiving a report of a fraud attempt in progress.
On Friday, at 11:20 a.m., officers were notified that a man was attempting to open an account at a financial institution in Trent Hills.
The representative believed the man was using fraudulent details to verify identity.
Police arrived and began an investigation relating to the person and documents presented by the accused.
As a result, 44-year-old Christopher Baksh of Scarborough was arrested and charged with obstructing a peace officer, using a forged document, possession of a forged document with intent, and possession of an identity document purporting to another.
The individual was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
