Thousands drive by it every day and many of those people must wonder what’s going on in the old Memorial Arena in downtown Belleville.
City councillor Sean Kelly says he recently toured the re-named still under construction Memorial Marketplace with realtor Joe Shunock.
Kelly told council Monday 5 businesses are now operating in the building.
“By spring of 2026 just next door to city hall the Memorial Marketplace will have nine (businesses). Ian Wilson and Hilary Murphy the owners have shown a lot of passion and this has been a great addition to the heart of downtown Belleville so next spring (2026) it’s going to look great!”
The Memorial Arena was built in 1929.
