The buses are running once again, as tens of thousands of local youngsters head back to school.
Tri-Board Student Transportation CEO Jeremy DaCosta spoke to Sean and Mariam on Mix 97 Wednesday morning.
There are 150 schools in the region and DaCosta says they cover a big geographic footprint.
“We start near Ganonoque east and come all the way along the 401 corridor to Belleville to Trenton, cover Prince Edward County, and then if you think about going north, as far north as Bancroft.”
He says there are a lot of moving pieces to get kids to class.
” … 642 routes planned today, so that means we’ll have 642 smiling drivers, waiting to welcome students this morning, to get them to school. We have just over 31,000 students plan to take a school transportation vehicle to and from school today – 31,000.”
Police will be keeping a close eye on school zones.
People are reminded to keep an eye on sidewalks, crosswalks, and stopped buses.
