The Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward (HSHPE) is holding its first community Spay/Neuter Clinic of 2025, made possible through the generous support of longtime donor and animal advocate Tony Martin.
Martin’s donation of $10,000 will fully fund spay and neuter procedures for approximately eight – ten dogs and 20–24 cats, depending on the type of surgery for qualifying pet owners.
In partnership with Southeastern Spay Neuter Clinic, the event will take place on September 30, 2025.
This initiative reflects HSHPE’s continued commitment to promoting responsible pet ownership, improving animal health, and reducing pet overpopulation.
Spaying and neutering not only prevents unwanted litters but also helps lower the risk of certain health conditions and behavioral challenges.
“We’re so thankful to bring this much-needed clinic to the community, offering affordable spay and neuter services. It’s all about keeping pets healthy and helping reduce the overpopulation of cats—while making sure finances aren’t a barrier to the care they need,” said Marja Smith, Shelter Manager at HSHPE. “We are deeply grateful to Tony for his generosity and ongoing commitment to animal welfare.”
