Historic cricket tournament for Belleville

Demographics, popularity, trends, and hobbies change with the years, and so does sport.

First the first time in the City of Belleville’s history, the community will host a cricket tournament.

It is taking place September 6 and 7 at Centennial Rotary Park in Belleville at the Legion Ball Field.

It begins with opening ceremonies Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p.m., with the championship Sunday evening.

Organizer Felix Salotra says, “This tournament is about more than just cricket—it’s about bringing people together, celebrating our city’s diversity, and building a tradition Belleville can be proud of. We are deeply grateful to the City of Belleville and to MPP Tyler Allsopp for their encouragement and support in making this event possible.”

The tournament has also gained strong community backing, with Benton Fry Ford as title sponsor and Jasmeen Kaur – George Wang Team, Simplicity Cars, and Fades by Jatin as co-sponsors.

With cricket rapidly growing in popularity across Canada, the Starlight Tournament will offer Belleville residents an exciting opportunity to experience the sport while enjoying food, family fun, and a festive atmosphere.

Admission is free, and everyone is invited.
