Prince Edward County is putting the question to its voters over whether the current size of council should be reviewed.
During Tuesday’s council meeting, council members briefly discussed whether or not to put a question on the ballot at the next municipal election, on whether or not to have a third party review the size of the municipal council and their ward boundaries.
The question chosen is: “Are you in favour of a third-party review of council size and related ward boundary
changes?”
The motion sparked brief debate, with Councillor David Harrison saying that the council already makes good decisions at its current size.
“Every time we move to smaller, it’s not necessarily always better,” said Councillor Harrison. “I don’t think this is just the right time for this. We’ve got a lot of other fish to fry.”
Council voted to pass the motion.
