Ontairo Minister of Agriculture Trevor Jones visited the Hastings County Plowing Match on Wednesday.
He, along with local MPPs Ric Bresee and Tyler Allsopp also took some time to visit several farms in the area to understand the impacts of the drought that has affected farmers for the last three months.
Among the farms they visited was Jeff Harrison’s in Quinte West.
Harrison, who is also the Chair of Grain Farmers of Ontario, says they walked the fields to fully understand the impacts on crops.
Harrison says while the recent rainfall is very welcome, it is too late to have any real impact on crops.
The Plowing match concludes today at the Burkitt Farm at 1289 Harrington Road in Quinte West.
