Belleville council will apply for a provincial government grant to cover the cost of renovations to the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre to create a family/accessible pool change room.
The project is estimated to cost $60,000.
Should the grant be approved the work would be done next year.
The project would create one accessible shower room, a large change room to accommodate people in wheelchairs, and other accessibility supports.
Chair of the city’s Accessibility Advisory Committee Barb Enright-Miller said the change room makeover would go a long way to making everyone in the community feel welcome at the Sports and Wellness Centre.
