The 17th annual Blair Smith Memorial Fishing with Kids event is happening Saturday, August 23 at Centennial Park in Trenton.
Event organizer Tammy Smith calls it a wonderful opportunity for children to experience the joy of fishing and create lasting memories with their families. “Blair, an avid fisherman, made so many incredible memories with his son and daughter while on fishing trips. Helping families foster a love for this sport through a free event is exactly what he would have wanted.”
A special loot bag filled with fishing tackle will be handed out to the first 150 child participants. Additionally, there will be a prize draw, face painting, a fishing pond, a booth with resources from the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, and complimentary hotdogs and drinks.
“We are so thankful for our amazing sponsors – The City of Quinte West, Trenton Downtown Business Improvement Area, The Kiwanis Club of Trenton, and High Falls Outfitters, because without them, this event isn’t possible,” says Smith.
For more information about the event, visit the Blair Smith Memorial Fishing with Kids Facebook page. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, children must be accompanied by an adult and wear a life jacket. Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing poles and tackle.
