On Sunday, August 3, 2025 at approximately 10 p.m., members from Central East Division responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Sommerville Street and Taunton Road West.
An e-bike was travelling north on Sommerville Road when it was struck by a van travelling east on Taunton Road West. The van fled the scene eastbound on Taunton Road.
The e-bike rider was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries.
The driver of the van was located by officers at a residence in Oshawa and was arrested without incident.
Tyler Donovan, age 30 of Oshawa is charged with numerous offences including fail to remain at accident, fail to report accident, careless driving -bodily harm and drive under suspension – CC prohibition.
