An e-bike operator faces charges including impaired driving after allegedly attempting to avoid a RIDE program in Picton Monday night.
Prince Edward County OPP officers were on Bridge Street just before midnight when they saw an e-bike turn, in an apparent attempt to avoid the RIDE program.
Officers located the e-bike in the area, along with the operator and a passenger and determined the operator to be impaired.
Twenty-nine-year-old Jordan Lewis of no fixed address is charged with two counts of operation while impaired, as well as driving while under suspension and having liquor in an open container in an unauthorized place.
The accused will appear in court on June 11.
Their driver’s licence has been suspended for an additional 90 days and the e-bike was impounded for seven days.
Police say the accused was held in custody due to other outstanding warrants elsewhere in the region.
