Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward-Hastings officials are excited for what’s to come after finalizing an agreement with the City of Belleville for a 66-unit affordable-housing project on the former police station property.
Demolition of the old police station, at 93 Dundas Street East, is expected to begin late this summer to be followed by the construction of a condominium complex featuring a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units.
“We are thrilled to move forward with this vital project,” said Hazzem Koudsi, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward-Hastings. “This partnership with the City of Belleville is a shining example of what can be achieved when we work together to create lasting solutions to housing insecurity. The model of Habitat for Humanity ensures that affordable homeownership is within reach of hard-working families and individuals. This major project ensures this philosophy is put into practice in our community.”
Sheridan Jennings, chair of the board for Habitat PEH noted, “This is an excellent example of Habitat PEH and the City of Belleville working in tandem to build a stronger community and work together to alleviate some of the socio-economic pressure in our community.”
Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis expressed strong support for the initiative, stating, “This project is a major milestone in our efforts to provide more affordable housing options in Belleville. We are proud to support Habitat for Humanity in bringing this vision to life.”
Habitat will continue to share updates about the project along the way.
Occupancy is anticipated for spring of 2028.
