Two people were arrested on warrants after Belleville police responded to separate incidents on the weekend.
On Saturday afternoon, officers with the Belleville Police Service were conducting general patrol in the area of Dundas Street and Church Street when they observed a suspicious vehicle.
Upon stopping the vehicle, officers identified a male passenger who was found to be wanted on outstanding warrants issued by the Durham Regional Police Service.
The individual, a 25-year-old male from Durham Region, was taken into custody without incident and handed over to Durham Regional Police Service.
On Sunday evening, police received a report from a female caller stating that her vehicle had been stolen and that she had sustained a lower leg injury.
The caller did not provide further details to police dispatchers.
Due to the reported injury, Hastings-Quinte Paramedics were also dispatched.
The woman told police that, in addition to the vehicle, her house keys and wallet had also been taken, however, she declined to provide any further information about a possible suspect and refused medical attention.
A short time later, police located the vehicle nearby.
A 27-year-old Belleville man, identified as the complainant’s partner, informed officers that he had taken the car to run a brief errand and intended to return it shortly.
A check of the male revealed that he was wanted on outstanding warrants issued by Belleville police.
As a result, Tristen Peacock was arrested and later released with a court appearance scheduled for July.
The complainant did not want any charges laid in relation to her vehicle being taken.
