Hospice Quinte announces the success of the 2025 Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign in Trenton, which raised $53,353.85 to support compassionate end-of-life care in our community.
From April 28 to May 4, every Smile Cookie sold at participating Tim Hortons locations in Trenton was more than just a sweet treat—it became a symbol of hope, love, and support for local families navigating end-of-life care.
Thanks to the generosity of the community, 100% of the proceeds from each Smile Cookie are being donated directly to Hospice Quinte, helping ensure that compassionate care, comfort, and support remain available to individuals and families during life’s most challenging moments.
“This incredible outcome is a testament to the heart and kindness of our community,” says Petra Lepage, Executive Director of Hospice Quinte. “We are deeply grateful to the Robertson and Smid families, owners of the Trenton Tim Hortons locations, for choosing us as this year’s Smile Cookie charity partner. Their support—and that of their staff, customers, and the wider community—has truly made a difference.”
This campaign was a profound reminder of the power of human connection. Customers stepped forward to share deeply personal stories of love, loss, and the comfort they found through hospice care—stories that touched hearts and united the community in purpose. Volunteers poured care into every cookie, businesses stood in solidarity, and residents from all walks of life rallied together. What began as a simple gesture—a cookie with a
smile—became a movement of care, proving that when a community comes together, it can make a difference that is both lasting and life-changing.
This local achievement is part of a record-breaking national effort. Tim Hortons is proud to announce that $22.6 million was raised through Smile Cookie sales, supporting over 600 charities and community groups. Hospice Quinte is honored to be among the organizations benefitting from this incredible show of generosity.
“This community has wrapped its arms around us, and around every family who will walk through our doors,” Lepage added. “To every person who purchased a cookie, shared a story, or offered their time—we thank you. You are helping to build a more compassionate world, one smile at a time. We are so proud to live and work in such a caring community.”
