Hastings County has announced it has reached a collective agreement with the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) Local 496.
The agreement covers the period from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2027.
In a press release from Hastings County, highlights of the deal include wage increases of 4% annually over three years and a phased-in, cost-sharing of long-term disability premiums, shifting from 100% employee-paid to a 50/50 split by 2027.
“This settlement reflects a balanced and respectful negotiation process,” said Bob Mullin, Warden of Hastings County, in the release.
“It ensures continued stability in county operations, recognizes the important contributions of our employees, and maintains long-term fiscal responsibility for our residents.”
Negotiations on the deal took place over multiple dates in March and April with conciliation support on April 28 and May 13, 2025.
“This outcome is a testament to the professionalism and commitment of all involved,” Warden Mullin said.
“We thank OPSEU Local 496 and the county’s bargaining team for their hard work and dedication to reaching a fair agreement.”
