Hastings County appears to be in good financial shape.
The Finance, Property and Personnel Committee heard a presentation from auditors Baker Tilly on Tuesday showing an increasing accumulated surplus, along with higher amounts in reserve accounts in 2024.
Meanwhile, a report covering 2023 from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing shows the county at low risk of any problems in all of the financial categories measured.
Those include “net financial assets or net debt as a percentage of own-source revenue” and debt-servicing cost as a percentage of total revenue.”
