Members of the 424 Transport and Rescue “Tiger” Squadron welcomed the Squadron’s new Honorary Colonel (HCol), Suzanne Hunt, during an investiture ceremony at 8 Wing/Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Trenton, on April 24, 2025. They also bid a fond farewell to HCol Brian Smith, who served the “Tiger” Squadron from 2018 to 2023.
Volunteer work has always been a very important part of HCol Hunt’s life. She has served on the Boards of Directors for the Trenton Military Family Resource Centre, the Belleville Chamber of Commerce, and The Children’s Foundation, and has spent many hours assisting other charities in the local community.
HCol Hunt is a proud supporter of the military as the granddaughter of Great War veterans, daughter of a Royal Air Force pilot, current spouse to a Royal Navy Submarine Service veteran and former spouse to a Canadian Army veteran. She is also mother to a daughter in the RCAF.
Quotes
“424 Transport and Rescue Squadron’s CC-130J Hercules aircraft and yellow and red CH-146 Griffon helicopters are well known to Canadians for transporting Search and Rescue Technicians to challenging locations on land and over water. Behind the scenes is a team that works tirelessly together to support and carry out the demanding, and often dangerous work of providing this urgent care. I am incredibly grateful to have been appointed to 424 Transport and Rescue Squadron as its Honorary Colonel and look forward to being part of the “Tiger” family.”
