Quinte West OPP have arrested and charged a 14-year-old in connection to a stolen engulfed vehicle investigation on Highway 401.
Officers with the Quinte West OPP, the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team and Quinte West Fire were dispatched to a vehicle that was fully engulfed in flames on the eastbound shoulder of the 401 at around 7:15 a.m. on Thursday.
No individuals were in the vehicle or at the scene.
An investigation from police revealed the vehicle had been stolen from the Durham Region earlier.
As a result, a 14-year-old from Oshawa has been charged with the following:
- Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Failure to comply with Release Order – other than to attend court
- Failure to comply with Undertaking
- Failure to comply with Probation Order x2
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
The name of the accused can not be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
