The Canadian Mental Health Association Hastings Prince Edward
(CMHA HPE) celebrates Mental Health Week from May 5 to 11, 2025. This year’s theme, Unmasking Mental Health, highlights the importance
of shedding the mask many of us wear to hide our struggles—a powerful reminder that it’s okay to
be real, to be vulnerable, and to speak openly about how we are truly feeling.
Mental health challenges are more common than we realize— one in five Canadians experience a
mental illness in any given year. Too often, people hide their mental health or substance use
challenges to avoid judgment or stigma. But hiding pain doesn’t make it go away—it makes it
heavier. When we unmask, we open the door to connection, understanding, and healing.
During Mental Health Week, CMHA HPE will be actively engaging with the community, sharing
valuable information and resources to encourage open dialogue and reduce stigma. Staff will
attend local events and collaborate with partner organizations.
