The Community Outreach Team consisting of paramedics and mental health/addictions professionals made a big difference last year when it came to helping the homeless and vulnerable in Belleville.
Chief of Hastings/Quinte Paramedic Services Carl Bowker told Hastings County’s Emergency Services Committee Wednesday that the number of 911 calls coming from the drop-in centre at Bridge Street United Church dropped by over 50 per cent since the creation of the team.
The team spends considerable time at the church seven days a week helping the vulnerable.
Meanwhile, Bowker says the provincial funding coming for The Bridge HART Hub should solidify the suite of services provided to the homeless.
