The City of Belleville will be submitting an application to the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund to try and receive funding for the Avonlough Sewage Pumping Station and Conveyance System.
Council approved the motion brought forward by Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis under new business at its meeting on Monday.
Mayor Ellis says the program could help fund up to $15 million of the project if approved.
The estimated cost of the Avonlough Sewage Pumping Station and Conveyance System is $55 million.
Under the 2024 capital budget, the project would be paid for out of reserve funds, development charges, grants, a federal building fund, taxation debt and user rate debt.
