Belleville Fire and Emergency officials have determined the cause of last weekend’s townhouse fire on North Park Street as being improper use of smoking materials.
Flames, which broke out at around 1 a.m. Sunday, caused heavy damage to one townhouse and smoke and water damage to neighbouring units.
Two family pets died in the fire and three people were treated and released from hospital.
