Two people have been charged with drug trafficking after over $18,000 in drugs were seized in Bancroft.
Officers checked a vehicle on Buck Hill Road just before 9 a.m. on Sunday.
Police say the officers spotted items associated with illegal drugs in the car.
Two people were arrested at the scene and a during a search of the vehicle, officers located over 40 grams of suspected fentanyl, over 24 grams of suspected cocaine, as well as morphine and lorazepam pills.
Forty-year-old Bradley Veinot and 45-year-old Katherine Zacarelli each have been charged with:
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
- Possession of a Schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of Schedule I Substance – two counts
Both accused were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on February 5, 2025.
