Belleville firefighters responded to a home on the 100 block of North Park Street on Sunday morning after a fire broke out in a set of townhouses.
Firefighters arrived just after 1 a.m. to find the home fully involved, with fire breaching into the shared attic space of surrounding units.
Firefighters had the fire under control by 3 a.m. with the help of two platoons off-duty firefighters. Aggressive firefighting efforts kept the fire from breaching into and damaging other units.
Three people were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
