Last month was average as far as temperatures go in the Quinte region although the month turned out to be a little drier than usual.
The average high in January was minus 2 the same as historical averages.
The average low was minus 10, a little milder than the usual minus 12.
The coldest day was January 30 when the temperature dropped to minus 20.
Meanwhile, according to readings at CFB Trenton, the usual amount of snow for a January totals 45 cm but last month we received just 40 cm.
And there wasn’t as much rain as usual at 13 mm. The historical average is 34 mm.
January featured a very windy day. On January 27, wind gusts were reported as high as 98 km/h at CFB Trenton and at least 110 km/h at Point Petre in southern Prince Edward County.
