Links2Wellbeing: Social Prescribing for Older Adults (L2W) is a fantastic initiative created to combat social isolation and promote holistic health among older adults in Belleville. By connecting individuals with meaningful social and recreational activities at the Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre, the program encourages active engagement and personal fulfillment.
The Links2Wellbeing project is the result of a unique partnership between the Alliance for Healthier Communities and the Older Adult Centres’ Association of Ontario (OACAO), powered by an anonymous donor. The program has seen tremendous success since its inception in April 2021 and is currently expected to run through to 2028.
Alliance member centres are committed to supporting those who face the highest barriers to health and well-being, including marginalized seniors. As the voice of older adult centres and Seniors Active Living Centres, the OACAO supports member centres coming together to unify their efforts towards the development of comprehensive programs and services, helping older adults stay connected and active in their communities.
The City of Belleville has been a valued partner in the Links2Wellbeing Social Prescribing Project and is actively collaborating to support the initiative aimed at improving community health and wellbeing. Social prescribing involves connecting individuals to non-clinical resources, including social and recreational programs and activities for older adults.
