It’s going to look a lot like 1999 at the CAA Arena on Saturday night as the Belleville Senators pay tribute to the OHL Champion Belleville Bulls.
It’s been 25 years since Jonathan Cheechoo scored a record five goals in Game 7 of the championship series as the Bulls blew out the London Knights 9-2.
The B-Sens will welcome back former Bulls players during a special on-ice pre game ceremony.
Confirmed alumni include Justin Papineau, Kelly Paddon, Jason Lawmaster, Randy Rowe, captain Ryan Ready, Tyler Longo and coach Lou Crawford.
Also on hand will be the J. Ross Robertson Cup (OHL championship trophy) and the OHL playoff MVP trophy won by Papineau after he scored 21 goals and 30 assists in just 21 playoff game.
Expected alumni from other eras include Shawn Matthias, David Silverstone, Michael Mole, Oliver Maron, Tyler Randell and former Bulls goaltender Malcolm Subban who is currently on the Belleville Sens roster.
Fans will be able to meet some of those alumni at the Signing Station during the first intermission.
The Senators will wear black and gold Bulls uniforms for the night and auction them off online after the game in support of the Belleville Minor Hockey Association.
Even some food prices will fall to 1990’s level.
As of 10am Thursday there were fewer than 400 tickets remaining for the game.
While the Senators celebrate the Bulls OHL title they also have two critical games against the Rochester Americans (Buffalo Sabres) Friday and Saturday night.
Belleville currently trails the 4th place Amerks by one point in the AHL North Division standings but hold four games in hand.
The B-Sens have played fewer games than every other team in the division except the Toronto Marlies.
Game time is 7:05.
