Quinte West City Hall Council Chambers was packed with smiles and a few tears on Tuesday.
Thirty-seven people from 17 different countries took the Oath of Citizenship to become Canadians.

Kevin Junor was the Volunteer Presiding Officer from Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada.
“As a Canadian citizen, you live in a democratic country. Individual rights and freedoms are respected. You have the right to vote. We all have freedom of expression and in Canada people are equal under the law.”

Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison was beaming when speaking to the new Canadians.
“I know you had a long journey to get here. To accomplish what you have is momentous and so memorable and we’re so proud. You make our hearts throb.”
Also on hand for the ceremony were 8 Wing Commander Colonel Andy Bowser, Chief Warrant Officer Andy Sargent, MP Ryan Williams, and Susan Smith of MPP Todd Smith’s officer.
