A Brighton man has been charged in connection with a historical sexual assault investigation.
Northumberland OPP, with the assistance of the crime unit, began an investigation on June 19.
The victim reported that the incident occurred from 2011 to 2012 at a residence in Cramahe Township.
The accused was known to the victim.
Wednesday, police arrested a 59-year-man charging him with sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age and sexual interference.
The accused, who will not be named to protect the identity of the victim, is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
