The executive director of The Belleville Children’s Safety Village says the vast majority of their visits come during the school year.
However, Bill Glisky and the board of directors are looking to change that.
Over the course of the summer, the village will be holding several open houses.
Glisky tells Quinte News the same safety issues for those in kindergarten do not really change.
“Look, listen, and learn. Look at what’s going on, listen for dangerous sounds, and learn from trusted adults/trusted people. That translates all the way along when you get into street safety, when you get into rail safety, and especially when you get into personal safety and internet safety.”

He says they have turned their attention to open houses, where families, guardians and parents, and children can come learn and enjoy the process.
“We have another one on August 7 and that’s very exciting because our friends from the St. Leonard’s Foundation are coming in for that to do some personal safety and internet safety programming.”
