No one one was injured in a fire Thursday afternoon in the east end of Belleville.
Deputy Fire Chief Mark Shannon says crews were called to 26 Chelford Crescent during the 4 o’clock hour.
“So we were dispatched to this house for a fire around the hydro meter. It appears there is some sort of issue with the meter. As you can see there’s still active fire. We are knocking it down with dry chem and C02 extinguishers. If we use water it would become a hazard to our people. We’re waiting for Elexicon to come on scene so that they shut off the power, then we can put the fire out.”
There is no damage estimate at this time.
