A Belleville man surrendered to police after a brief standoff early Wednesday in the city’s west end.
At around 7:30 in the morning, a homeowner called police saying a man had kicked in a door and threatened him with a knife.
Officers located a suspect in his residence but he would not come out. The Belleville Police Emergency Response Unit, K9 team, and negotiators responded.
Soon after their arrival, a 24-year-old man surrendered. The unidentified suspect was charged with uttering threats, assault with a weapon, assault, mischief and break and enter.
He appears for bail Thursday.
