There’s been a lot of news about the homeless and drugs in Belleville and almost all of it has been negative.
What’s lost in the coverage is the fact that many homeless people are decent folk.
Phyllis Elliott of Belleville says she forgot her purse at the North Front Street Tim Hortons Sunday
and when she and her husband saw a man yelling and running toward their vehicle outside they decided to drive away out of fear.

“And when I got home he phoned me and it was a homeless person. He had walked from Tim Hortons down to across the road from Swiss Chalet where I live at Riverview Condos and he had my purse and he walked all the way up here to give it back to me. I just wanted to let people know that it really touched my heart.”
The purse’s contents were untouched and Phyllis tells Quinte News that “she couldn’t believe what happened.”
