Community Living Quinte West is hosting free Conscious Care and Development Training for local agencies, parents, local schools, and active community members.
CCS is a development and consulting program for community support professionals, parents, family members, teachers, case coordinators, and psycho-social professionals – supporters who provide service and support to individuals of all ages who have autism or other intellectual or
developmental disabilities (ASD/IDD).
developmental disabilities (ASD/IDD).
The program has been demonstrated to significantly improve the skills of supporters beyond what is currently considered best practice in Ontario.
As a result, individuals with ASD/IDD get much better treatment and support as reported by measures of improved quality of life, learning, emotional well-being and significantly reduced self-injurious behaviour and aggression.
As part of the workshop, participants will learn to identify the primary causes, optimal prevention, and awareness-based calming strategies for deescalation for people who can engage in self-injurious behaviours and aggression.
The one-day training will be held November 22 or 23.
Community Living Quinte West is funding the training through the Kay Stafford Grant it received from the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation.
To get involved, RSVP to Lisa Rashotte lrashotte@clwq.ca or 613-849-7934.
