A lengthy drug trafficking investigation has resulted in seven charges in a case east of Kingston.
In the spring of 2023, the Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police began a drug trafficking investigation.
Members of CSCU East Region, with the assistance of Regional Intelligence Coordinators, and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant at a residence in Lyn.
As a result of the investigation, Canadian currency and a quantity of suspected cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, MDMA, oxycodone tablets and other drugs was seized.
Forty-two year-old Kara Barclay of Lyn and 66-year-old Stephen Tovey of Brockville were arrested and charged.
They face the following charges:
Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
· Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine – two counts
· Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid – three counts
· Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – MDMA
· Possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking
· Possession of a schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking
· Possession of property obtained by crime – under $5000
Both individuals have been released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on August 25.
