There was a Belleville resident that was a victim of a rental scam.
On Monday, a city resident went to the Belleville Police station, claiming she was the victim of a rental property scam.
Late last month the victim was looking for an apartment in the Kitchener area.
Responding to a Facebook Market Place ad, she sent a money transfer for nearly $3,000.
After sending the money, the victim could not get a hold of the renter.
She sent a friend to the apartment and spoke with tenants of the apartment and learned it was a scam.
Police are reminding residents to be vigilant for scams and to complete as much research on property rentals in advance of any exchange of money
