Quinte West OPP have laid charges after a theft at a business and the subsequent recovery of a stolen vehicle.
OPP received a report of a theft from a business located on 2nd Dug Hill Road in Trenton on Sunday.
It’s alleged that a male suspect entered the business on November 8 and failed to pay for over $600 in merchandise.
An investigation by police also alleges that the same suspect stole a licence plate from a parked vehicle and was in possession of a vehicle reported stolen in Prince Edward County.
The stolen vehicle was located and recovered in Belleville on Monday.
Thirty-seven-year-old Michael Mowers of Belleville was charged with the following:
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Theft under $5000 – four counts
- Fail to comply with probation order – four counts
He was held in custody and scheduled to appear for bail at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Tuesday.
