The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board has a new Superintendent of Education.
The Board officially signed off on the hiring of Kristen Niemi at a special meeting Tuesday night.
Beginning her career as a teacher, Niemi held a superintendent’s role with the District School Board Ontario North East and before that was in administration at elementary and secondary schools.
Leading and learning through an equity lens is seen as a strength of Niemi’s and she has previous experience working with First Nations and Friendship Centres supporting Indigenous students.
Niemi begins her new job August 22.
